Here is a longer view of the same floor. At first glance, this floor might give you pause. But the clearly delineated grid, the diffuse natural lighting that produces subtle modelling rather than eye-jangling reflection, the subtle texture of the glass—these qualities produce a floor that is remarkably inviting and secure. It also helps that it’s narrow—the shape sort of pulls you along. And of course there are those nice hand rails, though I actually didn’t need them.
